Nadia Olefir is a Ukrainiane artist based in Japan.
Trained in graphic design at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, Ukraine (1999–2004), Nadia began her career in commercial design while concurrently developing her practice as a painter, before transitioning to a sculptural practice in 2022. This shift occurred during a period of profound disruption following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, when ceramics emerged as a primary medium capable of absorbing and transforming heightened emotional states.
Rooted in poetry, her practice is guided by rhythm as a primary principle. This informs her ceramic sculptures, which are shaped through a poetic process rather than illustrating it, allowing rhythm and internal cadence to take material form in clay.
Olefir’s ceramic sculptures, which frequently incorporate light, function as vessel-like structures shaped through the cutting, rounding of edges, and deformation. These works articulate a correspondence between physical form and affective states, situating material transformation in relation to lived experience.
Light & Clay
Ceramic Luminous Sculptures are like us. And we are like a unique ceramic sculptures carrying timeless light inside our shell. Happiness and sorrow structure us, giving unique forms. Our personality twisting and curving under influence of life experience.
The gentle, warm glow of Nadia’s Sculptures - is a reminder about our inner timeless Light which shines through any shapes,
any pain, any walls.

ナディア・オレフィル――日本を拠点に活動するウクライナのアーティスト。
彼女はアートの三つの面――陶芸、ファインアート、詩――を組み合わせる。
詩は粘土、土により高次の意味を付与する。粘土は詩と溶けあい、それに形を与え可視化する。一つ一つの彫刻は固有の音をもち、それが形となる以前にアーティスト自身が書いた詩の固有のリズムをもつ。 ナディアのプロジェクト{ 愛の光は壁を見ず }は,アートが照明と出会う場所である。粘土彫刻が、詩の光と溶け合う。 光の粘土彫刻は私たちみたいだ。そして私たちはまるで、その殻の内に永久の光をたずさえた、独自の粘土彫刻のよう。
私たちは土という形に体現（受肉）された、照り輝く詩的リズムである。人生の経験によって、人格にはひねりやカーブが加わってゆく。一つ一つの経験が、体と心のかたちに無限の可能性を与えてくれる。私たちの誰もが、それぞれの魅力と個性を持っているのだ。 喜びと悲しみは、各人に固有のかたちを与えつつ、私たちを形成してゆく。角ばった人格を持つ人もいれば、丸みを帯びた人格の人も、その双方を持ち合わせる人もいる。外に向って開いている人もいれば、強固な殻の中に閉じこもっている人もいる。 彼女は彫刻を通じて、自己の内的世界へ向かう詩的な旅へといざなう。それは穏やかで、決して押しつけがましいものではなく、静謐で、とても深いものでありながら、光と無言（沈黙）の詩に満ちている。
1994-2004年、ウクライナのデザイン・芸術アカデミーでグラフィックデザインを専攻。2004-2007年、クリエイティブデザイナーとしてマーケティング会社に勤める。
イギリスの女性芸術家団体BART group創設者。これは、相互扶助とアートイベントの企画を目的として2015年に創設された団体である。アートセラピスト養成オンラインコース修了。
